Only Christ can complete me

Completion in Christ

 Colossians 1:19 KJV  For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;

There is only fullness in CHRIST. Anything and everything is only complete in Christ. Only through Christ does all fullness exist. We are incomplete without Christ.

Colossians 3:11 KJV  Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

By this scripture we see that Christ is ALL, and IS ALL.

Colossians 2:6-9 KJV  As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:  (7)  Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.  (8)  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.  (9)  For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

Christ is in you and He dwells in us in His fullness. The Godhead is resident in us through Christ.

Colossians 2:10 KJV  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

What does the word “complete” mean in the original Greek?

plēroō

Thayer Definition:

1) to make full, to fill up, i.e. to fill to the full

1a) to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally

1a1) I abound, I am liberally supplied

2) to render full, i.e. to complete

2a) to fill to the top: so that nothing shall be wanting to full measure, fill to the brim

2b) to consummate: a number

2b1) to make complete in every particular, to render perfect

God made Christ His everything. Christ in us is head over everything, including satan and his works, and circumstances and situations.

What is completeness? Completeness occurs when we see Christ as our fullness. We do not look at circumstances and shortcomings and failures. Because we know that we are complete. Verse 9 says that we will never be complete until we see Christ as our all. University degrees, millions, successes, fame etc. don’t complete you neither can they. Completeness is found only in Christ. Completeness is in Him that is in you!!

You are complete. If you need things and people around you to make you complete, then you are incomplete. When you know that Christ is your completion, you will not have to do anything, or go anywhere, or have anything, to be complete. You do not have to accomplish anything to be complete. Getting more money doesn’t complete you. Winning awards doesn’t complete you. Excelling at school or at work doesn’t complete you. Praying doesn’t complete you. Fasting doesn’t complete you. There is only one way to completion, and that is Christ who is in you. The perfect One. Christ is our life.

I can stand before God, by He who is my life, my righteousness, my sanctification. I am complete. Fear does not motivate me to do things to go anywhere anymore. I am an offspring of God. Some people think that all they need is a miracle from God and then they will be complete, or a word from God and they will be complete, or a mission from God and then they will be complete!!!! No and again No!!! You are already complete, you just don’t know it. Your real issue is that you don’t see Jesus.

Someone might say that if they only could get this spiritual gift then they would be complete and happy. No!!! That would not complete you. The only way you are completed is through knowing the person Jesus Christ IN YOU!!!!

When you understand through the teaching of the Holy Spirit that you are complete, you will be content and happy, because you are completed. Out of completion flows serving freely. I can serve others because I know that I am complete. I do not feel like less of a person if I serve because I know who I am serving. I am all that I can be already. And I cannot be less than I am by Christ in me. I am complete. You cannot be completed by what you do. You cannot be complete in yourself. A wife cannot be complete aside from her husband. When they are joined together as one can there be fruit produced. The husband produces or gives the life to the wife, and the wife bears the fruit of their loins.

1 Corinthians 6:17 KJV  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

As a believer we are believer wives and Christ is my husband.

Ephesians 5:30-32 KJV  For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.  (31)  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.  (32)  This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Completeness is Christ – in Him that is in you.

The wife cannot produce any fruit on her own. Christ is the producer. The life giver. He produces fruit through me. I bear it. I cannot be complete in myself. I am only complete in Him. In my union with Him I am completed. Only when a husband and wife become one is there completion, and only when you become one with your husband, Christ in you, will you ever be completed.

Genesis 1:27-28 KJV  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  (28)  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Genesis 2:8 KJV  And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Genesis 2:18-24 KJV  And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.  (21)  And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;  (22)  And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.  (23)  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.  (24)  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Look at Ephesians again:

Ephesians 5:30-32 KJV  For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.  (31)  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.  (32)  This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

When believers don’t know that they are one with Christ, their husband, they will be incomplete. Out of incompleteness flows all problems and sinful actions.

Degrees, fame and fortune don’t complete you. God can use those degrees that you have got, just like the husband will use his wife to bring forth children, so God will use what you can do for His glory. When Paul says that “he no longer lives, he is saying that he lives for Christ his husband. Christ is myself. Christ uses me – Christ though us.

I am only completed as a wife believer, He is the life Giver. I cannot produce life, I only bear the His life. This is union. We cannot be complete aside from Him. Completeness is in Christ. Frustration comes when we don’t understand completeness. This comes from not being able to do what you want to do. We are not failures because Christ lives in us. Christ comes and lives in us just the way we are. He doesn’t first paint and clean us up. He completes us praise His
holy Name.

I am complete in spite of success or failure, fame or fortune. God’s Seed indwells me and produces life through me. You can be as simple as Simon and yet you can still be complete in Him. Works flow from rest from knowing that you are complete. Completed people are stable and reliable because they have nothing to prove. They have no striving within because they are complete in Him!!! Too many believers run around looking for fulfilment. This leads to sin.

You will depend on someone’s law to be who you are. “If you don’t pray for 1 hour a day” or “if you don’t read your bible for 2 hours a day” etc etc. you are a bad Christian. This is forced and unwilling co-operation. These people always have to be doing something or going somewhere or doing a mighty work for God, to feel complete. This is because they do not know that they have already been completed. Christ is our life. If you don’t understand this you will always be striving to do something for God, hoping to become complete.

Even praying does not make you complete and full. Prayer helps you emotionally but it is Christ who completes us and gives us fullness.

For example: A husband and wife live together but do everything separately, they never come into wholeness. They will never be complete. If they continue to do everything separately without becoming one, they will be fruitless and barren. The husband may give this wife everything she needs materially speaking to make up for his flaw. This does not help their relationship. Why not? He thinks that he must do something to make his wife feel complete and whole. This does not solve the problem. Doing things does not complete someone!!!!!!! What the husband should do is to take time to get to know his wife, how she thinks, what makes her tick. He must take the time to discover who she really is. He needs to learn her.

The same applies to believers. We must stop doing things, and start learning who is Christ. We must come to a knowledge of Him. He is our completeness and fullness.  This is why Paul said:

Ephesians 4:20 KJV  But ye have not so learned Christ;”

Husband and wives need to learn how to come to oneness with each other. The same with the believer. We must learn Christ in us because we are one with Him.

I am in CHRIST. The term in Christ is mentioned 77 times in the New Testament. More than any other doctrine. In the Greek, these 77 times are translated,  “one with Christ”. The Greek word is “Union”. My life is a union. I do not have a life of my own. There is no “me”, “myself”, or “I” in marriage. It is “we” and “us”.

Completeness = union and oneness

Joy, peace, love etc all flow out of completeness. Sinners cannot be complete because only in Christ can you be complete. Christ alone completes. You can live in a squatter camp and yet be complete and fullness of life. You can live in a luxurious residential complex, have the best of everything and yet be broken and incomplete. Why is this so? Because only Christ completes you, not success. Christ fulfils you even when you have nothing.

The worst part of this all, is that the majority of believers who are looking to be completed by going somewhere, by being ministered to by a certain preacher etc in order to get fulfilment and completion. These Christians are needy. They always need counselling etc etc. They are trying to meet a need that they have with something or someone other than Christ. They are always fighting satan and his powers. If they are not fighting satan, they are blaming him for circumstances that they find themselves in. They don’t understand that all answers lie in the person of Christ. He is everything you need.

Acts 17:28 KJV  For in him we live, and move, and have our being; ….. (exist).

Philippians 4:19 KJV  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

They are defeated Christians. Like a marriage where partners live apart from each other, with separate bank accounts, separate holidays and separate beds and separate meal times. There is no union, no oneness, and therefore no power. This is the majority of Christians. They do not know, that Christ has already completed them.

Too many people know what Jesus can do, but they do not know Him. Him in them. They are not complete because they do not know Him as He really is. So many people think that Christianity is about doing things. This church must be doing something so that we can be going somewhere!!!!!!! This is religion speaking. A wife whose husband gives her everything that she needs materially is UNSATISFIED. That is how most people in church are today. Unsatisfied. If you only know Christ as your provider and miracle worker, then you do not know Him.

A loving husband willingly and freely gives his wife everything she needs. It is not what he gives her that satisfies her. It is intimacy and knowing her husband intimately that lasts. Material things come and go. But a love affair lasts eternally.

Paul said this

2 Timothy 1:12 KJV  …. nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, …..

I want to have a love affair with Jesus.

Ephesians 1:17 KJV  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

We will be incomplete until we know who we are.

In Paul’s final days on this earth before he was beheaded he said:

Philippians 3:10 KJV  That I may know him, …….

We must know Christ as our husband, as our life, our new nature and eventually as us.

Knowing Him is the answer to every need you may have.

1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV  Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
