Trust in the Lord

2Co 4:11 MKJV  For we who live are always being delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus might also be revealed in our body.

My hearts cry is that Christ’s life will be real in my experience. We are living in a time where man made religious traditions and structure, men movements including their institutions and organizations are drawing multitudes after them, and are attaching crowds to themselves. However on the other hand, there is a growing disappointment and disillusionment over these, and many are turning to the Lord Jesus Christ Himself to find Him alone as their life.

We can see three signs of these perilous times that we are living in:

  1. The unmistakable development of the principle of Anti-Christ; that is trying to surplant Christ. It is the worship of man in human power.
  2. Man-made Christianity which is an imitation life born and carried on by its own momentum.
  3. A deep and genuine quest for reality, truth, and inward knowledge of the Lord Jesus Himself. This is Christ altogether as our life.

If the Christian is attached to anything apart from Christ, or in other words has put his faith and trust in a teaching, a tradition, an institution, a movement or a person, that Christian will have a limitation of life and eventually will land up in confusion and disappointment and even deep despair. We must learn that a true work of the Spirit of God is to point everything to Christ Himself. Christ must be the life of our spirit so that we are strong in the Lord. We cannot be strong in ourselves, or in others and definitely not in “things”. We shall have to survive adversity by His strength within alone. This is an extremely painful learning experience for those of us who have put their faith in men and their plans.

If Christ is not the life of our mind, perplexity and confusion will find us without the power to explain and understand, but the Spirit will teach and lead us to Him – Christ in us.

Christ will need to be life for our bodies. There is such a thing as Divine life for the physical body. Not always does the Lord choose to heal the body, but He does always want to be its life, even in suffering, to fulfil His purpose.

It is the Lord Himself and for this to be so, it often has to be against a background of natural inability. Days of terrific pressure are upon the Lord’s people and their enemy is taking very little off time and our only sufficiency is in the Lord Himself as our life.

Barnabas exhorted the believers,

Act 11:23 RV  …. and he exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord:

Why cleave to the Lord? Because only Christ will and can! It is God’s eternal plan……..
