Forgiveness is a Person

20 04 2012

Christians all know that we can receive forgiveness only by our entire reliance on the Lord; yet we somehow believe that we can grant forgiveness to those who have wronged us by our own effort and strength. I would like to make this bold statement: “Forgiving someone who has hurt you is impossible apart from the Person of Christ in you”. Mat 19:26 KJV  But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Paul knew this and he says this concerning forgiving someone:

2Co 2:10 KJV  To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;

This means that forgiveness is not only possible to every believer, but effortless. All we need to do is to accept His forgiveness for the person involved as a completed work, and to move on. “It is no longer I who forgives, but Christ who forgives in me.” – for I no longer live, but Christ who lives in me……

For Christ is forgiveness.
