What exactly did Paul preach?

14 03 2012

When you turn on Christian television, you  hear many different sermons on many different topics. Some of the sermons are taken from the Old Testament, and others from the new. Some of the sermons focus on becoming better people and others on overcoming sin. There are as many teachings available to believers as there are teachers. This causes factions and division amongst the different churches because every teacher understands and “interprets” the Bible in their own way. This is not what the Bible teaches us. As born again believers, we are told to follow Paul as he follows Christ. This encompasses his life and teaching. So what did Paul preach? Did he preach the parables as Jesus preached? Did he preach self-improvement? Did he preach prosperity and healing? What exactly did he preach?

Romans 16:24-26 KJV  (24)  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.  (25)  Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,  (26)  But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

From this scripture we learn that Paul preached a very specific message or gospel. He preached Jesus Christ, and not Jesus Christ the carpenter. He preached Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery. This is a powerful truth that every bible teacher needs to grasp.

Galatians 1:11-16 KJV  But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.  (12)  For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.  (13)  For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:  (14)  And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.  (15)  But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,  (16)  To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen….      & Col 1:25-27

This is the doctrine of Christ. This is the unifying message that every pastor should be preaching and every believer needs to hear!!!!! Christ in us the hope of glory……..
