What is love?

8 03 2012

Have you ever heard someone say something to this effect, “”if we love someone, we fulfill the law?” This is not what is written in the Bible. Romans 13:10 says the following: “therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” Paul did not say as “religious Christianity” teaches that love is doing certain things. On the contrary, he said that love has fulfilled the law. Matthew 5:17 KJV Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

So what is love? Love is A Person – “God is love.” Love is not doing something, it is a Person expressing Himself. Love is the Person of Christ expressing Himself through a human vessel. Maybe this is what Paul meant when he quoted this scripture:

Galatians 5:14 KJV  For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

This is not a commandment from Paul it is a statement! We shall love our neighbour because Love in us  loves him through us. The Law is fulfilled through Him in us – Christ in us the hope of glory!!!

1 John 3:14-16 KJV  We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.  (15)  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.  (16)  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
