God’s human geodes

21 01 2012

A geode is a spherical rock containing crystals which is formed under volcanic activity. The word geode means “earthen” in Greek. They come in many different sizes and shapes and to the casual observer it looks just like any other rock would, and yet when it is cut or broken open, beautiful crystal formations are revealed inside of it.

Every time I see one of these geodes, I am reminded of what it means to be born again. When people look at us born again Christians we look  just like regular people. We look the same as non-believers because  most of us are not very special to look at, and are not especially talented or gifted, and yet we contain a priceless treasure within – Christ in us, the hope of glory!

2 Cor 4: 7 AMP However, we possess this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail, human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves.
