the Great Shepherd

12 01 2012

Have you ever seen how a shepherd uses sheepdogs to herd his sheep into a very specific direction? The shepherd uses a series of whistles that command his loyal servant dogs  to cause the sheep to move in the direction that he wants. The sheep are naturally “afraid” of the dogs, but the dogs are not there to hurt them, they are there to protect them and help them because they are the shepherd’s servants. The sheep do not understand why they are herded away from certain places, but the shepherd does. He knows what is best for his sheep!

We can learn a lot from this analogy!!! God will open doors of opportunity so that we can walk through them, and He will shut doors that He does not want us to walk through. This is The Great Shepherd at work in our lives, He is using every circumstance and situation as His ‘’sheepdogs,’’ to herd us to Himself – His perfect will for our lives – to know Christ in us. The circumstances that we so often see as ”dogs” are merely a ”whistle” from the Great Shepherd!!!!  So we can rest knowing that no circumstance in our lives takes God by surprize or catches Him off-guard!

Col 1:16-17 KJV  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:  (17)  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. & Rom 8:25

God is directing our footsteps and how awesome is knowing that?
