fruit in His season

12 01 2012

It is the middle of winter here in the northern hemisphere and temperatures are below freezing. Snow covers the mountains behind us and the fig tree growing outside our dining room is in fruit!!! There are no leaves on the tree, and yet it is covered in fruit. This is not a normal occurrence, and unfortunately the figs will not ripen because of the cold temperatures. In fact the figs are dying on the tree as you can see in the photograph.

This scene reminded me of my own spiritual life. I was saved by the Lord Jesus and later began to minister. I had varying degrees of what men call success and saw many people healed and delivered by God, but not with lasting results. Then suddenly I ended up with no place to minister in and no one to minister to – I found myself in a very lonely place.  God was busy “reconfiguring” my hard drive so to speak! He had me in His boot camp He was the instructor. I realized that I had been in fruit, but that it was all based on my own charisma and effort. To the casual observer I had ‘’fruit’’, but to God it was not the right season to bear His lasting fruit and because of premature “harvesting”, the fruit were inedible and rotting.

Eze 47:12 KJV  And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

God’s timing for us is perfect, and when we are ready, Christ will produce His fruit in us – the branches of His Vine!!!
