faith in Christ

1 01 2012

We read in Colossians the following:

Col 1:4  KJV  Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,

Col 2:5  KJV  For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

Having faith in someone means that you believe in them right? It means that you believe that that person can do something. This use of ‘’having faith in’’ someone has caused a great deal of confusion to many Christians because it postpones what is already ours in Christ.

What does having faith in Christ really mean? Does it mean that we believe that Jesus will save us one day when we die? Having faith in Christ is for the here and now, it is not to be postponed to a future date. Having faith in Christ is not believing that Christ is going to bless us sometime in the future when we die. It is not postponing what Christ will one day do for us. Having faith in Christ very simply means that we have faith in Him in us right now. We do not postpone what God has freely given us in His Son. Everything that Jesus is, IS ALREADY OURS NOW!!!

For example: When we have faith in His love in us, and have no faith in our own loving ability, then we will truly love.

Having complete faith in Christ in us in every area, and having absolutely no faith in ourselves whatsoever is what having faith in Jesus is all about.

Praise God!
