Christ ‘as us’

1 11 2011

‘Man-made’ religion has taught that to be a ‘successful’ Christian, we have to follow a regimen of different requirements in order to be accepted by Father God. It says that every believer is supposed to be the same, act the same, think the same and even look the same. It actually goes as far as trying to mass produce ‘good Christians’ through various programs  and teachings. This kind of thinking, is like a giant ‘cookie cutter’ that coerces innocent new believers into a condemned mind-set. It makes these new believers dependant on the ‘system’, on it’s leaders and on it’s ‘infra-structure’ and not on God. Religion tries to ‘fabricate’ Christian clones that will serve its own selfish needs. Let me give you an example of what I am talking about: ‘Religion’ requires a certain ‘commitment’ from a precious heart when they are saved: “You must go to Bible School if you want to grow spiritually, and you must get trained up before you pray for anyone, and then you must start praying for at least an hour a day and attend all the prayer meetings, and then you must get involved in the choir and in the usher department and and and and………!!!” This is what man tells us to do and may not necessarily be what God wants from us.

Let me use a simple illustration of what God ‘expects’ from His children that He created unique:  If you look at a vase, you see that the water in it takes on the shape of the vase. If the vase is long and tall, then the water in it will take the same shape. If the vase is short and round, then the water in it will take the same shape.

To go one step further, if you pour the water out of the long tall vase, the water will come out of the vase in a very specific fashion: If the opening on top of the vase is small and thin, then the water will come out of it accordingly! The shape of the vase will determine how the water will come out of it! Let me explain further: water when poured out of a coffee cup will come out of it differently than when poured out of a teapot! You get the idea?

The same is true as believers. God has created every one of us completely unique. Not a single person on earth is exactly the same. We are all very different to each other. We are God’s workmanship and He does not copy anyone!!!

When we are born again, Christ fills us. We are merely vessels that contain Christ – Col 1:26. Christ in us is the real us for we no longer live but He lives in us! He does not live our life in us, He lives His life in us! We do not have our life and His life, we only have His life! We are vessels that contain Him!

Let’s look at some scriptures revealing that we are mere vessels:

Rom 9:21-23 KJV  Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?  (22)  What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:  (23)  And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

1Th 4:4 KJV  That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

2Ti 2:21 KJV  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

The amazing thing is we are containers that contain Christ Jesus!! Wow!!!! What an honour and what an awesome responsibility? Many believers are condemned because they have this false idea that they are supposed to be a certain way if they are to be a good Christian! This puts them into condemnation and soon they will give up because they do not measure up to what ‘religion’ has demanded from them. This is deception and causes many people to give up on God!!!

Christ in us will be revealed to the world around us ‘as us’! I am not saying that we are Christ. I am saying that Christ in us, will be manifested to the world as we are, not as someone else says or expects, but as we are. Just like water being poured out of a coffee cup will not come out the same as water being poured out of a teapot, every believer will manifest Christ to the world around them differently! We are not supposed to reveal Jesus Christ to the world exactly the same as some other believer. Christ will be manifested in as many different ways as there are believers. You have been created a very specific way and you are supposed to let Christ come out of you ‘as you’, and not as for example Mother Tersesa or Billy Graham or Benny Hinn or whoever. Christ in you – ‘as you’……

1Jn 4:17 KJV  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

In closing:

Christ lives out His life in us. We all have different shapes, all kinds of interests, all kinds of diversity and all kinds of uniqueness. We don’t have to look like, act like, talk like, or be like anybody else again. We are free to be ourselves, with Christ Jesus living through us.
