Christ is our faith

6 10 2011

So often I’ve heard people say that we must grow our faith. Or heard something like, “You are not receiving your healing because you do not have enough faith…”or “you are struggling financially because you do not have enough faith”

In grace, faith is a gift and is not produced by man but by the Christ who lives in the believer. If I no longer live – Gal 2:20, then how am I supposed to have faith of my own? It’s not possible. Dead people cannot have true faith.

Hebrews 11:1 KJV Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Most teachings are based on this scripture. But we still seem to think that faith is incomplete unless we add to it our part or self-effort of hoping etc.

1Ti 1:14 KJV And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Heb 12:2 KJV Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;

Many new translations of the bible, have changed, *“faith of Christ”, for “faith in Christ”. *For more information please follow this link: https://inchristinme.wordpress.com/2011/09/03/the-faith-of-christ-or-the-faith-in-christ/

Why is understanding this so important to us? Because we have to understand that Christ is our life, and that He is all, in all!!!! If it is our faith that moves mountains, then we have to perform and earn something. If it is Christ’s faith, then it changes the way we think and see the word.

We have to discover if Paul meant the “faith of Christ”, or “faith in Christ”. Because it makes a big difference if we need to have faith, or if it is Christ’s faith.

Because of “traditional religion”, many believe that it is a believer + Christ= salvation. Or believer + good deeds + Christ = Salvation. Too many Christians believe that what they do is what makes a good and faithful believer. They don’t stand on what the Word of God says, and that is the “In Christ” position of a born again believer.

Because it is His faith, then we have to trust Him, and not ourselves.

In the kingdom message, the 4 gospels, Jesus taught on self-faith.

Matthew 9:22 KJV But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Matthew 14:31 KJV And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Mark 4:40 KJV And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?

Luke 8:25 KJV And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! For he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

You can see that the responsibility to have faith was on the believer. This was because Jesus had not died yet, He could not dwell in a believer yet, so His faith could not operate through a believer yet.

Because we no longer live, all of Christ’s virtues have become our virtues. Our righteousness is His righteousness, our peace is His peace, our joy is His Joy etc. Calvary fulfilled His virtues “in” us, not “BY” us. True Christianity is based on the finished work of Christ at the cross and never on anything a believer does. Even when a sinner believes on Jesus Christ for the first time, this measure of faith was given to him by God.

Romans 12:3 KJV For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

It does not say, a measure” meaning that there are different measures given out to different people. It says the measure”.

Pro 20:10 MKJV Different kinds of weights, different kinds of measures, both are hateful to Jehovah.

God does not contradict Himself. He hates different kinds of measures. So because God is true, God wouldn’t give for example Oral Roberts more faith than me, because that would be unjust and unfair. It would be differing measures!!!!! This same measure of faith, from God that we all received is for us to believe for salvation only. After salvation, it is Christ’s faith that we lean on. Not our own. How do we know this? Because we have died. We have been crucified with Christ. Why would a dead man need faith??????

How sad it is today, to see people trying so hard to have faith that is pleasing to God, so that they can get what they so desperately need. Each and every born again believer, already has, the faith of the son of God available INSIDE OF THEM!!!!!!.

2 Corinthians 4:13 KJV We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

In closing this section:

Colossians 2:10 KJV And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
