Menopause: To be or not to be?

27 09 2011

I am writing this specific post mainly due to what I heard this week concerning our bodies and the health of our bodies, from a specific Christian group. I am not going to bore you with the details but the issue raised by them was, as Christians we should take dominion and authority over everything here on earth, which includes our bodies, and that our bodies must come in line with the this specific scripture:

Gen 1:28 KJV And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

This is the foundation scripture for ruling and reigning which this group believes in. They believe that Christians are supposed to rule in all areas and spheres of life. They believe that you do not accept any circumstances that are negative, because all negative circumstances must be arrested by prayer, and by believing by standing on the Word of God. What they mean by ‘standing on the Word of God’, is this: You find a scripture that matches your need, and then you quote it, or pray it, and then this “circumstance” from “Satan”, will have to bow it’s knees to the quoted scripture that is being stood on by the faithful believer, and the believer will be victorious!!!

A lady in the group asked a question relating to ‘menopause’. She asked if she should accept menopause as an ‘ailment’ from Satan, or not? The general advice given to this lady was that she must not accept it, that menopause was to be treated as a scourge, and that she must take dominion and rule over this ‘terrible ailment’, by standing on the Word of God, and then menopause in her body would be thwarted! She accepted the advice and the subject changed!!!!

This may seem very silly to some of you, but this is what some Christians are being taught to do. The sad part of this is that this lady is going to go into a serious ‘spiritual battle’ against Satan and his forces, and she will come out of the battle bruised and battered, with her confidence in God shattered!

What is the correct council for this lady? It is this:

Every one of us live in a corruptible body – a body of sin Rom 6:6. We are going to live in these bodies until corruption puts on incorruption 1 Cor 15:54. This is why Paul said that the whole of creation groans, meaning that living here in these corrupted bodies is painful….Rom 8:22.
God never said that these corrupted bodies would be saved or redeemed, before the second coming of Christ. These bodies of ours, will not be perfected until this day. This preceding statement is in direct conflict to those who believe in ruling and reigning here on earth now!

2Co 1:9-10 MKJV But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, so that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead; (10) who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver; in whom we trust that He will yet deliver us,

This is a very important verse because it explains that we cannot trust in our own strength, our own ability, our own, dominion, our own anything! We cannot even trust in the prayers that we pray, because most of the time we are asking amiss James 4:3.

If our prayers are answered according to our request, then we brag about what good prayers we are!!! We puff ourselves up by the fact that God graciously gave us what we asked for. Then we think that we received from God because we have great faith! How wrong we are! (For more information on true faith please follow this link:

God works through many different avenues. He can use any which way He desires and chooses. We cannot think that we will dictate to God in any way. We are completely dependant on Him, not Him on us. He alone is sovereign and He alone rules and reigns. Who do we really think that we are that we can do as we please? Even Jesus Christ did not assume this arrogant stance. Joh 5:19 KJV Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

In closing, we must take care of our bodies, because Christ lives in them. Trust God to take care of you. Coming back to that lady with the menopause question, God has ordained seasons in our lives. Trying to stop menopause is like trying to change winter into summer! If God tells you that He is going to stop your menopause, then so be it, but otherwise you would do well to surrender to your Father.

Paul was afflicted and he asked God three times to help him and God did not help him because God wanted to teach Paul a much deeper meaning to life.

2Co 12:7-10 KJV And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. (8) For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. (9) And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (10) Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
