Body, Soul and Spirit

19 09 2011

We are a tri-partite being according to this scripture:
1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV (23) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In salvation our spirit is a finished work, done by Christ, without any help on our side besides believing. What God accomplishes in our souls is something we do have a part of. We have to make decisions about our walk with Christ inside us. The Holy Spirit is there is help us make the right decisions in this area. Our soul is under the supervision of the Holy Spirit!!! Just as Christ is joined to our spirits, the Holy Spirit is joined to our soul.

Hebrews 4:12 KJV For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, ….

It is vital that we learn to separate between soul, and spirit, in order to walk victoriously. This is how God deals with us, body, soul and spirit, each separately. We need to understand the difference and God’s workings in each of these parts. When we teach, we need to teach ACCURATELY TO EACH SPECIFIC PART, BODY, SOUL, OR SPIRIT. The learner needs to understand what part God is talking to, in order to get understanding of the in-Christ message.

We are only saved in spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:17 KJV But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

We become one spirit with Christ.

Ephesians 5:30-32 KJV For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. (31) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. (32) This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

We are perfect only in our spirit. Why? Because we are one with Christ. Christ is joined to our spirits.

Galatians 2:20 KJV I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

The point is that our spirit is perfect, because Christ is our life, but our relationship to God and His word is worked out in our soulish realm. Our soul is always growing. God wants us to know Christ in us.

Eph 4:15 KJV But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Christ is complete in us. We have received His fullness.

Col 2:9-10 KJV For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. (10) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

But we need to be transformed and renewed in our soul realm.

1 Peter 1:9 KJV Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Rom 12:2 KJV And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Our bodies will only be made perfect when Jesus comes back to fetch his bride:

1 Corinthians 15:52 KJV (52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
