Why does “religion” hate the cross?

13 09 2011

Religious people love the law. They love it because there is a lot of self-effort on human part to keep them “holy” and “sanctified” and “accepted”. It is a part of the sin nature that makes us feel good when we do something good or right. It makes us feel “saved” by self-effort. Those that do this don’t need the cross Col 2:13-14. Religion tells us that we must do things on top of what Jesus did at the Cross to be saved. Like tithes etc. Anything that “improves man” or makes him “a better person” or “righteous” apart from the finished work of Jesus on the cross makes the cross on none effect. If anyone adds to the complete work of the cross, they are enemies because “their” salvation depends on human effort. They have become their own saviour!!! Jesus is not their all in all.

Php 3:17-18 KJV Brethren, be followers together of me (Paul), and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (18) (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

Jesus plus nothing = salvation. If we add anything to Jesus Christ to be righteous, even if it seems right in our religious eyes, like for example: prayer and reading the bible, it is unacceptable in God’s eyes and we have become enemies of the Cross…….
