Receiving spiritual gifts

13 09 2011

I was taught that whenever the chance arose of a “man of God” to lay hands on me so that he may impart some spiritual gift to, I must jump at the opportunity. I remember I was given the opportunity to drive Benny Hinn at a crusade that he was holding, and I asked him to pray for me so that I could be “endued with power” from high!!!! He did, and I was so excited at the time, but looking back I see how ignorant I was in the things of God.

People base this belief on this scripture.

Rom 1:11 MKJV For I long to see you, so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, to you for the establishing of you.

But if this scripture means that, then why does Paul say this:

1Co 1:4-7 KJV I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; (5) That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; (6) Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: (7) So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

People literally fly all over the world seeking a special impartation from what is known as some specially “anointed” person. People actually believe that their destiny lies in this special impartation!!!

These are the times we are living in, and many people are being deceived in the process because of lack of accurate teaching.

The truth is every single believer on planet earth has received the same measure from God, we have received the person of Christ Jesus in us. Christ in us is not incomplete or does He lack anything. He is all! In Him, we live and move and have our being. He is the power of God. He is everything that God can give us. There is nothing more to receive from God because we are complete in Him.

In closing

Col 2:8-10 KJV Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (9) For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (10) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
