What is the big picture?

20 08 2011

The other day I realized why religion does not preach Christ. They preach about Jesus of Nazareth but they do not preach Jesus Christ. This is in direct conflict to what it says here:

2Co 5:16 KJV Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

The reason i believe religion doesn’t preach Christ is because they do not see what the bigger picture really is. They do not know Christ.

I want to show you an amazing fact that testifies about our subject. When Jesus appeared to his disciples after his resurrection, none of them knew Him. They did not know who He was. I believe that the “church” is the same today. We do not recognize that Jesus Christ is risen, and is living in every born again believer! This is because we are looking outwardly, we are looking for Jesus somewhere out there!!!

A building contractor will not build a building without a plan. A plan is a detailed picture of the proposed building. It contains very important details that if ignored, could result in failure and even death. The same is true of the “church today”. We have so many different gospels being preached, that people are confused and judgemental. They do not have a “picture” or pattern to follow. They think that the picture is for example; baptism in water, or communion or repentance etc etc. These things are not the “picture”. All they are is different pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. If these individual pieces are taken as the complete “picture”, then denominationalism is founded. This is why we have so many different churches. One church thinks that their puzzle piece is the entire “picture”. Another church thinks that their puzzle piece is the entire “picture”. No wonder we do not have unity.

The truth is this: If we do not have a picture or plan of what we are building we will not build correctly.

1Ti 1:16 KJV Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

This is a powerful scripture. First of all, it shows that the Jesus Paul preached was the Jesus in him. It was not the Jesus of Nazareth that he preached! And secondly, it shows us that the pattern or picture is Jesus Christ in us. The pattern is not Jesus of Nazareth. If we are preaching Jesus of Nazareth, we are building incorrectly. Jesus Christ is risen. He is our pattern. If we build according to the wrong pattern, the building will collapse because we will not know what we are doing or building.

Luk 6:48 KJV He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

The rock is Jesus Christ. This is what Jesus told Peter in the gospels, “on this rock will I build my church”.

Take for an example a jigsaw puzzle. If we don’t have a picture to follow, we will NEVER build the puzzle correctly. The same is true for “church”. If we do not understand that we must preach Christ, the risen Christ, the “church” will never become who Jesus intended us to become. When we see the “picture”, the pieces that make up the picture will have their correct place. If each puzzle piece is in it’s correct place, then all the other pieces will be able to fit in in their rightful place.

The “picture” that we need to see is Christ Jesus. We must see Him. When we see Him, everything else will be in context.

Joh 5:39-40 KJV Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (40) And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Life is in the Son and if you do not have the Son in you, then you have no life in you!!!!!!!
