God’s real purpose of Pentecost – Part 2

The role of the Holy Spirit

If you have been in church for a while, you most probably been around people who focus on the Holy Spirit. Everything they say and do is about the Holy Spirit. They say things like “the Holy Spirit moved powerfully in such and such a service”, or “the Holy Spirit presence is so heavy in this place”. I want to show you what God has said concerning THE PRECIOUS Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person in the Godhead. He has a specific role to fulfil as do God the Father and God the Son. We need to understand clearly what His role is. As a silly example, you wouldn’t go to an electrician if your baby was ill? Or you wouldn’t buy your vegetables from a petrol station? Or would you?
In part 1, we saw that Jesus said that on the day of Pentecost, people would know that Christ was in them. But all we hear about Pentecost from religion, is that people began to speak in other tongues and prophesy etc etc. We hardly ever hear that when the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost, Christ has been placed in every born again believer through the Holy Spirit!!!

Joh 14:17-20 KJV Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (18) I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (19) Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. (20) At that day (on the day of Pentecost) ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

Let’s see what Jesus said about the Holy Spirit.

Joh 15:26 KJV (Jesus speaking) But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Who will the Holy Spirit testify of? That’s right. Jesus Christ!

Joh 16:13-14 KJV Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (14) He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Who will the Holy Spirit glorify? Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit will bring glory to Jesus Christ, not to men. Not to a special preacher or a person with a special anointing!!!! He will bring glory to Jesus Christ! If what Jesus is saying here is true, and it is, then why are men being glorified in church circles? Why do people flock to see and hear “powerful men of God” minister? If it is the Holy Spirit’s role to bring glory to Christ, then how is it possible that we worship the man and not the Christ Jesus in the man??? What I have noticed is that people speak constantly about the Holy Spirit, while completely ignoring the person of Christ Jesus. Jesus is not being worshipped any more. Men operating under what is called anointing, are being glorified. Jesus is being forced into the background. I believe this is because many people do not understand that the Holy Spirit does not draw attention to Himself. He speaks only as He hears of the Father. He does not speak independently as we are being led to believe. The Holy Spirit is there to teach us Christ. Christ in us!!!!
