The doctrine of Christ may not be what you think it is??? Part 1

Why is the doctrine of Christ important to us?

We are living in a world where we can hear just about anything on almost any subject when we listen to preachers. For example: at 7pm you can listen to Pastor Appleby-and-orange tells us how to live a fuller life. At 19h30 we can hear Pastor Lemon-and-pawpaw explaining how to have a happier marriage. At 20h00 we can hear Pastor Pineapple preach a fiery message on how to stop sinning. The “sermon menu” we have available to us as christians is amazing. Does God agree with the vast choice that is offered to us? Is everything preached based on the Word of God? Notice my choice of words here. I said “Word of God” and not scripture. Why am i saying this? Because we can put together a collection of scriptures to prove almost anything from the Bible. I can give you scriptures to kill someone if they use God’s name wrongly!!!!!! Let me prove my point. Please read this scripture:

Leviticus 24:16-17 GW But those who curse the LORD’S name must be put to death. The whole congregation must stone them to death. It makes no difference whether they are Israelites or foreigners. Whoever curses the LORD’S name must die.

Is that God’s word? It’s scriptural isn’t it? It is scriptural but it is not written for us. It was written to Israel thousands of years ago. Think about it, the Israelites are not going around these days stoning people who curse God’s name are they? God does not approve of people cursing Him but the punishment He commanded in this scripture does not apply to people who are not under the Law today. I hope you understand what i’m saying.

Lets move on.

Many Christians all over the world are frustrated and are finding themselves in a place where they are either losing faith in the “church”, or they have lost faith in the “church” completely. This is happening in my opinion due to the fact that there has to be more to christianity, than what we are experiencing at present. Let me talk for myself. I am hungry for God. Very very hungry!!! I do not want to “play church” anymore. I want to know God more than anything. Know Him deeply and intimately. I want to know the truth!!!!!!! Please excuse my language here but I do not want to “lap up” regurgitated information that has the smell of truth. I want to know God’s PURE truth concerning His will for us as His children.

This hunger for the truth has got me in hot water a few times and have the scars to prove it!!!! People generally do not like their belief systems challenged. If you want to get a christian upset, just ask them a question that challenges their belief system.

I really believe that God is turning His children back to the “TRUTH”. For hundreds of years, tradition and religion has so diluted the truth with man ideas, that the regular christian person doesn’t even flinch when pastors freely dish out “regurgitated traditions and philisophical fables”, and keep their members in bondage. Bondage that keeps them enslaved to a system. Bondage that is masked with scripture, but lacking the true power of God. We need to return to what God intended us to know. The doctrine of Christ!!!

It is key to understand what the doctrine of Christ is, because of this very serious scripture…..

2 John 1:9-11 KJV Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. (10) If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: (11) For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Preaching the doctrine or message of Christ, is not optional. It is very very clearly stated how important that we do… and that we must be careful not to fall away from this gospel of Christ. So what is the doctrine of Christ? Is it the historical books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and the book of Acts? Is it found in the Old Testament? Where do we find it?
